Authenticity & Respect
Honor the cultural, historical, and stylistic traditions of ballroom and vogue.
Review the official roster, category expectations, global policies, and judging mandate for a floor built on culture, precision, and legacy.
This judging philosophy guarantees fairness, consistency, and cultural authenticity in every category at the IMA Heritage Ball. Judges are expected to recognize creativity, technical skill, personal expression, and community engagement while respecting the traditions of ballroom and vogue culture.
The philosophy applies equally to live and hybrid audiences, ensuring that both in-person and digital performances are evaluated with rigor and respect.

Apply the same standard to every competitor, free from bias and favoritism.

Ability to remain unbiased and consistent, even when evaluating friends, public figures, or well-known participants.
Understanding of technical considerations such as lighting, camera angles, visibility, and audio quality for virtual participants.
Select categories require 10 tens in Part 1 to advance to the next round.
Mr. & Miss IMA is weighted heavily for production and stage presence. Other categories shift emphasis based on the primary skills being evaluated.
Each house is assigned a primary color after purchasing a table, on a first-come, first-served basis. Members must wear their assigned color for all categories. Houses may choose one accent color, but it must remain an accent — not the primary color. The 007 theme color is black. If your house does not purchase a table, your assigned color is grey.
Duos cannot be from the same house for any duo category. Duo categories include: Mr & Miss IMA, Realness Duos, FF Face, MF Face, Sex Siren (FF/MF Duo), and Performance (FF/MF Duo).
Category winners across all runway sub-categories will battle for an additional $500 grand runway prize.
The Comm vs Comm winner will serve as commentator for the New Performance and New Runway categories. The winner also receives a refund and other prizes.
